DIVERSITY EQUITY& INCLUSION (DE&I)

OUR MISSION

The mission of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion domain is to further SCP’s commitment to and engagement with diversity and to help SCP become more inclusive. We work to highlight the importance of inclusion, to help SCP gain the benefits of diversity, and to foster a Society that serves all its current and potential members, in alignment with one of SCP’s key goals: advancing multiculturalism, internationalism, and diversity (e.g., ethnicity, race, disability status, age, sexual orientation, students, career stage, gender diversity and identity, and international affiliates), and cultivating inclusion (especially in terms of safety, voice, authenticity, and power) in all matters with the Society, particularly as they relate to practice, training, and research in consulting psychology.

ACTIVITIES & OPPORTUNITIES

Based on input from the 2016 member survey, we are planning the following:

  • Webinar(s): We are planning a D&I webinar for SCP members and offering CE credit. Dr. Bernardo Ferdman will discuss content from his latest article, “Paradoxes of Inclusion: Understanding and Managing the Tensions of Diversity & Multiculturalism” (Journal of Applied Behavioral Science), and its implications for consulting psychologists.  We plan to hold additional webinars based on involvement, participation, and further interest.
  • D&I Resources: We will share and continually update information about useful D&I resources, providing relevant and practical information to our members who wish to deepen their learning about diversity and inclusion.
  • Membership Survey Report: We will post results of the member survey relevant to diversity and inclusion.
  • Consulting Psychology Conference Content: We will continue to catalyze and support inclusion of Diversity & Inclusion content at our annual conference, including town halls, dialogue sessions, and other opportunities for collective learning.
  • Active Listserv D&I Conversation: We hope to increase our attention to diversity and inclusion on our listserv, to help us continue foster a learning space to grow, develop, and better serve our clients.
