Come Take a Sneak Peak! New Guidelines for Education & Training in Consulting Psychology

While we must share that these guidelines are still in their final review by APA (and not yet formally approved), we wanted to make them publicly available as soon as possible to our membership as we recognize many are actively looking to advance their skills or develop curriculum to advance the skills of newly transitioned consultants.

Please click here to review the guidelines and download a copy as a useful reference for your training programs.

On behalf of the SCP Executive Board and our membership, we wish to extend a huge thank you to Elizabeth Gullette, John Fennig and Tom Reynolds for their tireless efforts over the last several years on this project!

More and more psychologists are providing consulting services in business, education, sports, healthcare, and government settings. Even clinicians are considering alternatives to direct service clinical work, for a variety of reasons. Effective consulting is not self-evident, and learning through trial and error is always a painful route to take. These guidelines will provide our members and colleagues a roadmap for delivering top-quality services in all of these sectors. These guidelines are the result of an extensive effort by many members of the Society, spearheaded by Melanie Kinser. Kudos to all of you - it's a great effort and a great benefit to our field. --Bill Berman
